FAQs

1. Do you use film or digital cameras?

We are 100% digital.

2. What kind of camera do you use?

We use Canon digital SLRs.

3. How long have you been doing photography?

I’ve been shooting since 2001, so about 7 years.

4. Did you go to school for photography?

Yes, in 2001 I began taking photography courses at a local junior college.  Even now, I periodically enroll in photography courses because I feel there’s always more to learn.  I enjoy being among my photography peers in class because it inspires me with new ideas, and it’s a great way to network.

5. Where are you located?

We are based in Sacramento, CA and currently serve all of the Greater Sacramento Area.

Please note:  There is a mileage fee charged when outside of a 25 mile radius from our base location.

We are also available to travel the state, and even the country!  A travel fee will apply.

6. Do you have a studio?

I do not have an official studio…yet.  But, sessions can be done in my home studio, in your home, or on location.  Clients love the comfort and intimacy of having photo sessions in their own home.  The familiar environment relaxes both children and adults so that natural, beautiful expressions are captured.

Rest assured, that not having an official studio by no means limits the quality of my work.

7. Is photography your full-time career?

Yes, photography is what I do.  This is not some hobby I do whenever I have time.  I am dedicated to my business and the field.

8. Do you belong to any professional associations?

I am currently a member of WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International).

9. What is your photography style?

I blend candid, traditional, and high-fashion photography techniques.

Candid:  These are spontaneous, un-posed shots.  They are able to capture natural expressions and emotion.  Most times, the subject isn’t even aware of the photographer.

Traditional:  These are formal, posed shots.  Usually subjects are arranged systematically, and looking at the camera.

High-Fashion:  These are dramatic posed shots, similar to those you would see in a fashion magazine.  This style also involves a lot of creative posing.

Please see our  galleries for a more visually detailed description.

14. What is a Flushmount Album?

Our Flushmount Albums are a high-end, durable album consisting of custom-designed photo layouts mounted to a board.  The photos stretch to the very edge of the board, leaving no border at the edges.  The album comes standard with a leather cover, but you can upgrade to a Photo-Etched Metal Cover or a Full Wrap Photo Cover.

You can view examples of a  Flushmount Album in our Product Gallery.

15. What is a Coffee Table Album?

Coffee Table Albums are contemporary, sleek, and just as the name suggests, they have the same quality and feel as a fine art book from a bookstore.  Each page is a custom-designed layout that’s printed directly on the glossy or matte paper.  Cover choices include hardcover, softcover, or hardcover with a book jacket.

You can view examples of a  Coffee Table Album in our Product Gallery.

16. How far in advance do you recommend hiring a wedding photographer?

6 months to 1 year in advance is recommended in order to secure a date with your top choice photographer.

Please note:  I only take on a select amount of weddings each year to ensure quality over quantity.  Limited availabilities are open.

17. How many weddings do you shoot in a day?

In order to ensure our high quality standards, we only book one wedding per day.  Complete focus on our clients is very important.

18. Do you have assistants?

Yes, assistants are used at my discretion.  In general, most sessions do not require the use of an assistant, but most weddings do.  It all depends on the wedding package purchased or how involved the photo session.

19. What if something happens to your camera during the wedding?

We carry back-up equipment to every wedding.  Plus, we are insured.  So rest assured, if a camera is dropped, or if someone trips and falls over our equipment, we have it covered.

20. How many pictures will you take?

On average, about 50 images per hour.

21. What are your photo sessions like?

Our sessions are always fun and relaxed.  We’re not really into strict posing, so most of what we shoot comes naturally.  I love to catch subjects off-guard because these types of candid photos show how loving subjects really interact with one another.  It’s also where they reveal their most honest expressions.  A different dynamic and magic experience happens during every session.

22. What should we wear?

Choose something that fits your style and personality.  Casual works best.  Avoid short skirts, because they limit your ability to sit/lay comfortably.  Keep in mind, if we’re shooting on location, you want to wear something you wouldn’t mind getting a little dirty.

Outfit ideas can be discussed during your consultation.

23. Where will we shoot our session?

During your consultation, we will discuss ideas, themes, and goals that you would like to achieve during your session.  We will work with you to select the most suitable environment for your portraits.  It may be an open field, an old building, or a bridge—we can make fresh, fun, beautiful images anywhere.

24. How long will it take to see our pictures?

Portrait session proofs can be viewed on our website in 1-2 weeks.

Wedding photography proofs can be viewed in 2-3 weeks.

25. How long will my proofs stay on the website?

Online hosting lasts 90 days.  After that, your proofs will be removed from the website.  You may purchase additional hosting in 30 day increments.

26. How long will it take for me to get my products?

Most prints and products take approximately 2-4 weeks to be delivered.  Depending on the size of the album, album design may take up to 4-6 weeks.  Album assembly and delivery take approximately 6-8 weeks.

27. Do you do photo restoration?

Yes, we do!  Please see examples of photo restoration in our Portfolio.

Pricing is dependant on the photo’s extent of damage.  Please contact us for details.

28. Do you offer event photography?

Yes, we cover parties, corporate functions, family get-togethers, reunions, and other events.  We also offer Party Photo Booths during events.

Event photography is charged on a per hour basis.

29. What is a Party Photo Booth?

We come to your event and set up a photo station complete with lighting and an appropriate backdrop.  Your guests can then have their photos taken and purchase prints or Photo CDs that they can take home that same night. Plus, a border designed specifically for your event can be applied to all photos, so that your guests will have souvenirs.
